Sisakhet Museum
Considered the oldest temple in Vientiane, it was built in 1818 by King Anouvong, the last king of the Kingdom. It was the only temple to have survived the invasions of the 1820’s. There are over 10,000 bronze and metal Buddha statues in the perimeter. |

Patuxai (the Victory Monument)
It is situated at the north end of Lane Xang Avenue and resembles the famous Arc de Triomphe of Paris. During the day, the monument is opened for the public to climb up and view the spectacular landscape of the city. |

Notre Dame Cathedral
The towers of Notre Dame have been a familiar landmark in Ho Chi Minh City since the 1880’s. They are intricately decorated with stain glass windows. |

Wat Inpeng
The temple offers a breathtaking view of its architectural design. It has an intricately carved wooden and mosaic façade. The rest of the exterior is elaborately and colorfully decorated with gilded mythological nagas swirling up at each roof corner. By contrast, the interior is simply decorated with stone tiles. |

Wat Xieng Khouang (Buddha Park)
Located about 25 minutes drive from the city, the temple is a stunning combination of large structures that bines Buddhist and Hindu philosophies together. |

Set in a large French colonial building, the museum houses artifacts, photographs, and painting of the history of the revolution. |

That Luang
Deemed as a national symbol and the most important religious structure in the country, it is a recreation of the 16th century temple thought to have been built by the reigning King of the same period. The stupa is best visited in November during the That Luang Festival where it is elaborately decorated with colorful lightings. |

Nam Ngum Lake
A man-made reservoir surrounded by picturesque green valley with fishing villages and countless islands of woods dotting the water. It is approximately 80 kilometers from Vientiane. This hydroelectric power dam generates electricity sold mostly to Thailand.
